International Trade Development

Lochaber Enterprise, the local enterprise company for Lochaber in north/west Scotland, has developed two international trade development events, in conjunction with Stewart Miller associates (Scotland) Ltd, to assist Lochaber companies with exporting. The event details are as follows:

Introduction to Exporting, 9am to 4pm, re-scheduled for Friday 2nd February, Fort William

The “Introduction to Exporting” 1 day workshop is geared towards organisations that are new to exporting and/or where a delegate has recently taken a new export-related post. The practical workshop provides information on the following: why companies should consider exporting; the export process; terminology; how to build an export price; VAT; and getting paid. The workshop, which is limited to two delegates per organisation, is free of charge and also includes course notes, case studies and refreshments. The presenter is Robin Mackay of Export Training Ltd – one of the leading export training companies in the UK. Interested parties should book a place by 26th January.

Mission to Scotland's Trade Fair Spring, SECC Glasgow, 21st to 22nd January

This is the key trade show for Scottish gift manufacturers & agents who wish to display their products to over 5,000 buyers & visitors from the UK and overseas. Products on offer are diverse and include gift & fashion accessories, crafts & textiles, and food & drink. (See www.scotlandstradefairs.co.uk for more information on the show). Lochaber Enterprise is organising a mission for Lochaber ‘craft’ producers interested in exporting/visiting this show. The itinerary will include accommodation & dinner at a hotel in Glasgow, an accompanied tour of the show, private presentations by an overseas buyer & the show organisers, and pre-arranged discussions with selected exhibitors about their exporting strategy. This is also an excellent opportunity to gather information on new products, competitors and market trends. Lochaber Enterprise will be part funding this mission and the cost to participants will be minimal. The offer is restricted to one delegate per organisation. Participants need to book a place by 7th January. Numbers will be restricted to ensure delegate satisfaction and bookings will be taken on a first come first served basis.
